Written Question on the Biofuels report:
The amendments to the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) presented in 2012 represent a serious reversal of the consequences. Investor confidence has been reached in an industry that could create thousands of jobs in the rural areas of the Member States, provide farmers with additional income and help revitalize rural communities.
In 2013, the Commission appointed a group of three consultants-Ecofys, IIASA and E4tech-to assess the CASI impacts of biofuels consumed in the EU. On 4 November This research group indicated that the final report had been given to the European Commission and that it was "awaiting its publication online".
Commission officials therefore seem to refuse the publication of the GLOBIOM study to MEPs and other stakeholders.
Can Commissioner Canet confirm to Parliament whether he supports this decision to deny Members of Parliament access to this report?
