Statement by Sylvie Gherardi, co-signed by Mireille D'ornano and Jean-François Jacob:
In line with hollow speeches and ad effects emptied of their senses, the French government underlined by its Minister of Health in early July, "progress achieved" as part of the plan to control Lyme disease.
A meeting from which the patients ' representatives came out disappointed and shocked by a umpteenth "communication exercise".
The increase in the number of ticks and their bites is directly responsible for the magnitude of this disease. But inaction, lack of means and the disinterest of the public authorities for this "rural" disease aggravate the situation of the sick and their families.
As a French Member of the European Parliament, I ask that the plan to fight this disease really help to treat and take care of it. Finally, a real policy of combating this scourge replaces the incantations and episodic prevention operations.
